The Biden-Harris administration has announced a commitment to phase out all single use plastic products across the federal government agencies by 2035, and to phase out all single use plastics in food service, packaging and events by 2027. They also released a report advocating for EPR policies to transfer the cost and operation of recycling from individuals and communities to the companies that were responsible for producing the plastic. In November, world leaders will gather to discuss an international, legally binding treaty on plastic pollution.
