A University of Technology Sydney (UTS) study estimates that we now inhale a credit card's worth of plastic every week.  With global plastic waste soaring, millions of tons of microplastic particl particles are now present in air, water and soil, arctic ice and even clouds. These microplastics can accumulate in the airways and potentially cause respiratory health problems, and because plastics are often made with phthalates and BPA, they could pose significant hormone disruption and risks. More research is needed to fully understand the effects of microplastics on human health.
