Magic Microbes

A new study has discovered that certain microbes are able to digest plastics even at cold temperatures. The microbes have shown their ability to eat through plastic even at temperatures as low as 4°C/39°F which offers some hope for addressing plastic pollution in colder climates where microbes are generally less active.  With the volume of plastic waste production continuing to sky-rocket, plastic-degrading microbes are an exciting and interesting option for developing more sustainable plastic-waste management.
