San Diego's city-wide ban on single-use styrofoam containers and plastic straws an utensils has finally come into full effect - the conclusion of a four-year lawsuit between the city, restaurants and plastic manufacturers.  Restaurants, and other take away food establishments, can no longer provide polystyrene foam containers to customers, including bowls, plates, trays, cups, lids, meat trays and egg cartons - unless they're specifically requested. Small businesses were given a one-year grace period to comply with the regulation, which was initially passed in 2019. The city aims to reduce plastic pollution and promote sustainable alternatives.
