Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Nestlé, Danone, and Altria - according to a new global study, 24% of all branded plastic waste comes from just these five companies. Over five years, over 100,000 volunteers in 84 countries analyzed nearly 2 million pieces of plastic collected during cleanups. Coca-Cola topped the list, responsible for 11% of branded plastic waste. The research emphasizes the need to shift focus from end-of-line solutions to holding producers accountable for their contribution to plastic pollution and confirmed that the food and beverage industries create more plastic pollution than the household goods industry.
